Thank you for coming to this year's Celebration of learning and for your interest in our class! Here is a preview of what is coming up this semester: We just finished reading Shakespeare's The Tempest! We finished a group project about the play today in class and tomorrow we have a test on Act V. Next week we will start a new whole-class novel, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I am excited because this is the first time this book has been taught at our school - we even had to borrow the books from another school in the district. I chose this novel because of its incredible themes, the tale of growing up, and the adventure! I think you will like it. Another novel we are going to read this semester is Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451. They just made a new movie out of this book last year starring Michael B. Jordan - but the movie is not very similar to the book. It is the story of a future where fire fighters do not put out fires - they start them! Soon we will also be writing a new type of essay - the informational essay. This gives you a chance to hone your research skills as well! I look forward to the rest of the year with you! Ms. Naylor Sometime AFTER October 30 we will have a binder check for assignments 40-55. #55 is the Shield you made to prepare for the Lord of the Flies test. #50 the quotation assignment should not have a * next to it because you did not have to write anything. Otherwise, the following list is correct for periods 1-3. Make sure you understand the following binder rules: 1. You must bring your binder to class every day. 2. The assignments in the binder must be INSIDE to three-ring hooks of the binder (no loose papers or papers in the pocket will be graded) 3. The assignments must be in the correct order. 4. The assignments marked * must be complete ![]() Dear Parents (Guardians) and Students, My name is Rose Campiran and I will be helping Ms. Lori Naylor as a student teacher this semester (August 20 - December 20). I am so excited to be in your child's classroom and I know we are all going to have a great time. I enjoyed meeting some of you already at Back to School night. I can't wait to get to know your student. I would also like to share something about myself. I am a graduate of Azusa Pacific University with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in youth leadership. I have taught English in Japan, tutored students in English and SAT testing and taught reading and writing skills as a tutor here on campus for almost two years in Cal State L.A.'s Writing Workshop held each Wednesday. My husband and I raised our family in Alhambra and his family have lived here for more than 40 years. I love the outdoors and am often seen hiking the trails of my favorite spot, Eaton Canyon. I love gardening and landscaping using native plants. I love cats. I also enjoy the beach: boogie boarding and shell collecting. Thank you so much for your time and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns throughout the rest of the semester. Sincerely, Rose Campiran Estimados Padres (Tutores) y Estudiantes,
